Our History

Fish At The Rocks is celebrating 31 years in operation located in The Rocks.

For lovers of seafood, this is the place to come with its blue interiors and historic sailboat framed prints, that set the scene to enjoy a wide variety of Sydney’s freshest seafood. Their small quaint restaurant delivers friendly, intimate service.

Well-loved by locals and tourists alike this is one of Sydney’s favourite seafood restaurants.

Fish At The Rocks is supported by a longstanding team of passionate executives and staff working to create personal dining experiences for our guests, underpinned by a generous dose of humble hospitality and a sense of understated luxury. Paul White is fascinated by the sea. He spent his early career working at Michelin Star restaurants in the UK, France and Spain. Whilst he honed his skills in these kitchens, he began to lose sight of what he loved most about cooking, the ingredients.

Paul continued pushing the limits of what could be cooked over a wood fire. He was exposed to a form of cooking that was so completely different, beautifully complex, yet simple, one that highlighted ingredients in their most natural state. It was a turning point. 

Returning to Australia in the early 90s, Paul was ready for his next challenge. He opened Fish At The Rocks in 1993 and it remains a Sydney icon to this day. 

ella jones, Manager

Ella Jones is the General Manager of Fish At The Rocks. Hailing from England, Ella has spent the last two decades in hospitality, amongst some of the most respected kitchens, restaurants, bars, including the chalets of the Swiss Alps.

Relocating to Australia in 2011, Ella has held various managerial positions before joining the Fish At The Rocks team in January 2018. As General Manager, Rachel ensures the venue runs smoothly and seamlessly, with the guest experience her primary focus

I had an amazing experience at Fish At The Rocks! The atmosphere was fantastic, creating a delightful dining environment. The food was incredibly delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. The service was friendly and efficient, making the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!
